The Chelsea loan system has been criticized by a lot of pundits due to the sheer amount of players currently away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have enjoyed great success using this system.
They buy youngsters with potential for little fees, loan them to other clubs to help their development and then promote them to the first team if they are exceptional or sell them for massive profits.
The latter is the case of Christian Atsu, who has now completed a permanent move to Newcastle who recently gained promotion to the Premier League after winning the 2016/17 Championship.
The signature of Atsu as made Newcastle’s manager come out to the media to declare his thoughts on the club’s new signing, he said as quoted by Daily Mail:
‘We are happy to sign a good player. He’s shown us that he’s a good professional and someone who is very keen to learn and improve.
‘Christian has been a key part of our promotion campaign and he wants to help us to build something for the future.’
The 25 year old was signed for £3.5m back in 2013 but failed to make a league appearance for the Blues. Atsu is a creative wizard on the right hand side of midfield, as he likes sitting inside to carve out chances for his teammates and himself alike. He has made 150 career appearances, scoring 19 times in the process.
