Securing their promotion back to the Premier League after conquering the Championship, Newcastle United are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, according to report Newcastle outlet.
The England U-21 forward impressed on loan at Championship side Bristol City last season, scoring 26 goals for the club across all competitions and that has prompted clubs like Everton, Leicester City, Brighton and Newcastle United to show interest in his services.
However, The Daily Mail claimed Newcastle have won the race to sign the lethal attacker on a season-long loan deal. The Toons boss Rafa Benitez, being a former manager of the Blues is believed to have
influenced the deal, courtesy of his close relationship with Chelsea’s technical director Emenalo Michael.
Benitez managed the London club in the 2012/2013 season and won the Europa League cup with them.
Benitez is looking to add more depth to his squad and the signing of Abraham would be a boost to his side. The Daily Mail also claimed the deal is expected to be finalized this weekend and Newcastle will be
responsible for his £25,000 per week wages.
Aware of his talent, Chelsea are not ready to lose the 19-year-old permanently and with his chances of breaking into the Blues first-team extremely slim, the Premier League Champions are of the opinion that
he moves on loan to a club in the English top-flight to continue his development.
Abraham is a good finisher and he is expected to repeat his goal-scoring feat in the Premier League next season.
