Arsenal are set to officially announce the signing of Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer as their first acquisition this summer, according to the Express.
The Schalke defender has been heavily linked with a move to the North London club after a report of his pre-contract agreement with Arsenal flooded the media earlier this year.
The FA Cup holders were reported to have tied up a deal for the left-back whose contract with Schalke expires at the end of this month but delayed making official announcement due to the uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future at the club.
The French boss was expected to leave the club this summer but signed a two-year contract extension last month after guiding Arsenal to the FA Cup triumph for a record 13th time.
And it appears Arsenal are now ready to finally annouce the Bosnia international as their first signing of the summer. German outlet Bild reported that Kolasinac has agreed a long-term deal worth £7.5 million
per season.
The 23-year-old fuelled speculations of his potential move to Arsenal when he started following the club on Instagram last week, confirming that announcement of his signing is imminent.
Kolasinac’s addition would boost Arsenal’s defence and would fit in perfectly into Wenger’s 3-4-3 formation. His versatility enables him to play as a centre-back or defensive midfielder. While his arrival
would provide competition for Nacho Monreal, it could end Kierian Gibbs spell at Arsenal after dropping out of the first team.
