Sweden has a very rich history in football, as a country they have played in a World Cup final (lost 5-2 to Brazil in 1958) and club side Malmo, reached the European Cup final (lost to Nottm Forest 1-0, 1979).
They have also produced some great players down the years and below we list five of the best Swedes to have ever played in England.
Zlatan Ibrahimović (Man Utd)
We have to start with arguably the best footballer ever to come out of Sweden, the one and only Zlatan Ibrahimović.
He may be past his prime but he is proving with United that he still has the magic. He has won titles in no less than six countries, received countless individual awards and continues to score spectacular goals.
Freddie Ljungberg (Arsenal)
Ljungberg became a legend with the Gunners, he was an integral part of the Arsenal side that became known as the invincible’s and was pivotal to their success at that time.
He played over 200 games at Arsenal, more than all his other clubs combined. his impact on English football was immense and it was no surprise to see him named the 11th greatest Arsenal player of all time in 2008.
Henrik Larsson (Man Utd)
A bit of cheating here really as Larsson only played 13 loan games with United, but he makes the list because he was a superstar footballer and did collect a Premier League title when at Old Trafford.
His main success came with Celtic and Barcleona, he is a Champions League winner and was one of the most prolific goalscorers to have ever played in Scottish football.
Olof Mellberg (Aston Villa)
Mellberg became a legend at Villa Park, so much so that they named his final game with the club as Olof Mellberg day, he captained the Villains for most of his time with the club and was regarded as one of the best defenders in the league.
Mellberg finally left Villa Park for Juventus but never quite made the impact that he had made in England.
Anders Limpar (Arsenal and Everton)
Limpar may not have won as many trophies as he should have done but he was without doubt a top talent that the fans loved.
He was a fantastic passer of the ball and when he was in the mood would score some spectacular goals, he was one of the players that helped Arsenal shed their boring tag and brought a creativity to the midfield that was at times unstoppable.
