Sky Sport Transfer Update:
Respected football journalist, Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that Atletico Madrid striker, Antoine Griezmann has not asked to leave the 2014 La Liga winners. This is according to what club president, Enrique Cerezo stated recently.
Atlético president says Griezmann has not asked to leave. Says they’ve had no approach. Doesn’t think anyone will pay £86m release clause

The France international has been rumored to favor a move to Old Trafford to join Manchester United. This latest admission by the Atletico chief may, however, dampen morale at The Theater of Dreams. Although, the former Real Sociedad man was recently spotted telling friends that there is a 6/10 chance of him moving to England in the summer. This has been fuelling speculation that a deal is imminent between the Roji Blancos and the Red Devils.
However, Cerezo has put paid to all that speculation, insisting that Griezmann has not asked to leave and doesn’t believe any team will want to pay his reported £86m release clause. Since joining Atletico in 2014, the forward has grown to become one of the best players in world football under the tutelage of charismatic Argentine, Diego Simeone.
However, his inability to win trophies with the club is a major reason for his disillusionment. The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are simply too powerful to compete with. And Griezmann had reportedly grown tired of working hard with very little to show for it.
Cerezo’s statement according to Sky Sport Transfer News
Cerezo’s statement may well be a ploy to ensure United cough out a lot of money which Atletico could use to replace their talismanic forward. In years gone by, they have coped with the loss of Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao and Griezmann won’t be an exception.
