Chelsea are relentlessly heading towards the title and the way this team is playing they could go down as one of the better Chelsea teams of all time.
When looking at the best of all time it is very difficult to choose which team should take that honour, it would be obvious to say the Champions League winning side, but truth be told, they were not that great and were extremely lucky.
It is actually easier to choose the best five players of all, there were a ton to choose from of course, but in our opinion we feel the five below would be very difficult to leave off any best five players list.
Didier Drogba
A Chelsea legend for sure, scored the goal that won the club their first Champions League and was one of the pivotal figures that turned Chelsea from an average English team into one of the best club sides in the world.
John Terry
What is it they say about John Terry “Captain, Leader, Legend” and he has more than lived up to that billing. Terry has epitomised everything that Chelsea have stood for over the last decade or so and without his inspirational leadership they may well not have achieved the level of success they have.
Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard became a midfield legend scoring goals at a far higher ratio than some strikers, he made the team tick more often than not and could always be relied on when a game changer was needed. He is Chelsea’s all time goalscorer, he also made 164 consecutive Premier League appearances for the Blues, a truly outstanding record.
Jimmy Greaves
If we are talking about impressive records then Greaves 124 goals from 157 games is astonishing. If we are talking about true legends then Greaves certainly has to be included, no Chelsea striker is ever likely to match that goal scoring ratio and his name will go down in Chelsea history for all time.
Bobby Tambling
Chelsea all time goal scoring record holder before Frank Lampard beat it, He held the record for 47 years, with 202 goals in all competitions until Lampard surpassed that total on 11 May 2013. Tambling still retains one record though, he remains Chelsea’s all-time top scorer in league competition with 164 goals.
