After making history last season as the invincible Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen look to make it to the Champions League knockout stages for the first time in eight years. Die Werkself are currently sixth in the standings, with 10 points under their belt. Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso witnessed his side suffering a 4-0 thrashing to his former team, Liverpool, but he managed to inspire them back to winning ways with an incredible 5-0 victory against Red Bull Salzburg.
The thrashing at Anfield can be written off as a minor blip in Leverkusen’s European journey as they have now won 16 matches in their last 25 matches. Leverkusen have been even more impressive at home, having won seven of their last eight European matches in front of their home crowd.
The reigning German champions got just what the doctor ordered before a match of such immense magnitude: they knocked out Bayern Munich from the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over the Bavarians.

Inter Milan will be taking on Bayer Leverkusen for the fourth time in their history, and till now, they have a 100% record against their upcoming opponents. Simone Inzaghi’s men, therefore, will be heading into this clash with high-confidence.
Inter have a European pedigree that many clubs would envy. They have worn the crown of Europe’s finest three times, and in 2023, they came within breathing distance of adding a fourth title to their stacked European trophy cabinet. But, a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the final forced them to stay content with runner up medals.
The Serie A club are in electrifying form this season both in home and Europe. They are three points off the top spot, with a match in hand. They are in an even more comfortable position in the Champions League. Inter are second in the standings with 18 points, and a top-eight finish seems almost guaranteed.

Inter Milan will be without Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi once again, but their defensive record remain incredible. They are yet to concede a goal in the Champions League, even though they played the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, and Leipzig. The Nerazurri are the only side in the Champions League who have kept cleansheets in all of their matches.
We don’t think that changes this midweek as Bayer Leverkusen will be testing the Inter backline without their marquee attackers Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface.
