Wenger confirms massive injury blow ahead of FA-Cup final against Chelsea

Arsenal head into Saturday’s FA Cup final on the back of failing to qualify for The Champions League, and amid calls for Wenger to leave the club, these are not the best of times for the legendary manager.

The Frenchman has confirmed that both Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista will miss the Wembley clash due to suspension and injury respectively. Koscielny was sent off for a reckless challenge on Enner Valencia in the 3-1 win against Everton and will now miss the Cup Final, which will represent a chance to make this season a success.

The Frenchman’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and has not indicated whether he will be signing a new deal to stay at the club.

Alexis Sanchez was spotted walking down the tunnel, with a likely hamstring injury and is a doubt for the game as reported by The Express. Speaking as quoted by the Metro after the game, Wenger said as quoted by Metro:

‘Gabriel’s injury looks quite serious, especially for next Saturday,’ ‘We lost two centre-backs and that is a big blow. ‘It looked spectacular [Koscielny’s sending off] but when you watch it again it looks harsh. What could we do?’ he added.

With the trio of players likely to miss out on the Wembley party, Chelsea head into the clash as favourites to win The Double, having claimed the league by a canter over the course of the season.

Wenger faces a decisive fight to prove he still deserves to be at The Emirates after this season, after unprecedented fan unrest.
