In what is going to be a busy summer for Arsenal in the transfer market, the North London club are planning to sign Carlos Bacca from AC Milan as per reports from Metro.
Arsene Wenger signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club till 2019 yesterday and a transfer war-chest of £100M has reportedly been made available for him as a major overhaul of the squad looms this summer.
Carlos Bacca has been on the radar of Arsenal and other English clubs following his fine form with Sevilla and AC Milan in recent seasons.
Arsenal reportedly failed in an attempt to sign the Colombian international in January but could renew their interest in the excellent striker this summer as they aim to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
The club with the focus of bolstering their attack ahead of next season, also have Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez as top target.
With the uncertainty surrounding the future of both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal as well as Olivier Giroud being linked with a return to the French Ligue 1 with both Marseille and Lyon interested
in his services, Bacca and Mahrez arrival could make light of their departures.
Ozil and Sanchez are yet to agree to a new contract and with only 12 months left on their individual contract, Arsenal may end up cashing on them than to lose them for free next summer.
Bacca, who is under contract with AC Milan until 2020 could reportedly cost Arsenal £15 million. The 30-year-old scored 15 goals in 34 appearances for the Italian club last season. Though far behind
Sanchez’s goal tally for Arsenal this season, a good delivery from the midfield could see him better that lot.
