Arsenal’s latest injuries could prevent a top-four finish

football goal detailed

Arsenal’s latest injuries have manager Unai Emery sweating ahead of the Gunners’ fixture against Newcastle at the Emirates on Monday night.

Arsenal are two points ahead of fifth-place Manchester United going into the weekend. Emery’s team defeated their top-four rivals prior to the international break. The Gunners could move into third place with a win over Newcastle and a Tottenham loss to Liverpool.

Emery will hope several Arsenal stars are fit and ready to play on Monday night after new injuries were picked up on international duty.

Arsenal’s latest injuries – Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey is the latest Arsenal casualty. The Wales international was forced to withdraw from the national team last week.

The Arsenal midfielder suffered a thigh injury and returned to London for medical treatment. It is hoped the injury is just a minor setback and won’t keep Ramsey on the sidelines. The Metro state that Ramsey is most likely suffering from tightness rather than a muscle tear.

Arsenal’s latest injuries – Sokratis and Kolasinac

Sokratis and Sead Kolasinac are also suffering from injuries as well. The defensive duo is expected to play with their respective national teams this week before returning to London, however.

Arsenal supporters would prefer the defenders to return to the club, but that won’t happen until the end of the week. Further injuries could be incurred by the players.

If Arsenal’s latest injuries to Sokratis and Kolasinac weren’t bad enough, Nacho Monreal has sustained a calf injury.

Emery and a 23-man squad are currently in Dubai for warm-weather training. However, Monreal was left behind to recover from his calf issue. There is currently no timeline on how long Monreal will be out.

Arsenal’s Premier League climax

Arsenal are undefeated in their last five league games. Four of those fixtures ended in wins.

The good news for the Gunners is they have a very favourable fixture list to finish the season. Arsenal will not play a team from the Premir League’s top-six.

Emery will take his team up against the likes of Everton, Watford, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, the manager will be quietly confident his Gunners can see out the rest of the season in the Premier League’s top-four.
