Chelsea v Middlesbrough: match preview

Chelsea

The upset of Tottenhams surprise loss at West Ham Friday night, has surely given a clear path for Chelsea to lift the Premier League Trophy. However, not forgetting the next crucial step which is the Middlesbrough game on Monday night; and it is a must win for Conte’s men. Struggling in the first half of the match against Everton last weekend, it was much more fun and games in the later part of the meeting when Pedro’s long-range strike started the goal producing in the 66th minute, followed closely by Cahill and Willian helping out to seal the win.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough tested Chelsea at home in November, but will most likely struggle to make an impact on Monday night against a home team in superb form. However, Boro comes from a good battle against City which ended in a draw. It was a performance from the North Yorkshire club which has not been seen in several weeks. The problem they face on Monday night is the fact that they are forced to win, and this will most likely leave them open at the back.

Summary

Boro are dancing on the edge of the relegation knife. They could see themselves joining rivals Sunderland, in the journey to The Championship, already on Monday night; should they lose against a team at the top of the league. Chelsea on the other hand, could be one step closer to be this seasons champions. It is all leaning towards an open game and we wouldn’t be surprised if we were to witness several goals.
