For a player who shine brightly at the 2014 World Cup, the last three years have not been all about sweet memories for James Rodriguez. The 25-year-old Colombian has struggled for game time at Real Madrid this season, struggling to fit into the manager’s philosophy and formation.
According to Spanish news outlet, Don Balon, the player has told his close friends he’s leaving Spain this summer but the destination is not yet known. James has scored 13 times and created a further 14, but is still not trusted by the manager to start from the off, as his favored position of playing behind the striker is not in place in the 4-3-3.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for the playmaker, who is also represented by manager, Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes.
The Portuguese tactician is looking for a classy attacking midfielder to spearhead a title challenge next season and has identified the player as his number 1 target.
James is also wanted by Chelsea, but it seems that United have no major rivals in the race for the signature of the number 10. Wayne Rooney, who currently wears the jersey is set for the exit door at Old Trafford, meaning the number will be free, as it is inserted in the player’s commercial deal with a top brand for marketing purposes.
James is a left footed wizard who is known for his creativity, guile, vision and finishing has also played for the likes of Porto and Monaco in what has been a fantastic career so far.
